Take in the Views - Whitefish, Montana

Get ready to crave a trip to the mountains! This Whitefish, Montana home embodies all of the textures and colors of its natural surroundings- BEAUTIFUL! Some of my favorite projects to share are our Destination Homes and this one has the stories to go along with it. First of all, if you are not familiar with Whitefish--it is about 50 miles from the Canadian Border and Glacier National Park is right up the road. The cuisine, terrain, views, activities and small town feel are one-of-a-kind. You can literally be boating on the Lake one day and hiking in the Mountains the next. And don't even get me started on the adorable Main Street, with quaint shops and restaurants. But we are focusing on this house- right?

Can't you just imagine waking up to this stunning view and enjoying a cup of coffee while you listen to the nature surrounding you? Well I can tell you, that is exactly what you get when you step out of this Living Room onto the wrap-around porch.

The install on this mountain home took one week and was full of fun times, stressful delivery obstacles, power outages and great conversations over dinner! But all of these things pale in comparison to the elation of finishing the project and the relationships formed along the way.

I promised a story, so here it goes....During the installation week, myself, Jodi (the other designer on the project) and Roland (our window treatment and artwork installer) stayed just down the road in the client's other condo. While at dinner, I believe night two, the electricity went out in the entire town. As we returned to the cabin, it was still light outside, so we spent the evening playing cards and chatting--soon by candlelight. Here we are, in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by woods, in absolute darkness-YIKES! I think I'm still a bit scared of the dark and I have a wild imagination from watching too many horror films. Needless to say, it was a long night, but Roland was our "guard dog" and we bonded in our fear! Didn't I tell you it takes a village to complete these destination projects? And that is precisely why we take our installers, faux finishers, furniture movers, etc. on every installation.

Every detail, accessory, lamp and piece of artwork depict the character of this small mountain town and those details were meticulously created by Jodi and I for almost one year.

Just wait, I've introduced you to Jodi now but she and I worked side-by-side on every project for over 9 years, so you will get to know her more --and oh the stories I have with that girl!

So until our next adventure--what is your favorite place to relax and enjoy the view?
