Beautiful, delicate....tile!
Tile trends have see a shift over the past few years. No longer are the days of endless tumbled marble and heavily textured accents. Our design schedule seems to be full of new construction and renovation projects and tile selection is one of the most important parts of the design and building process. Lucky for us--the industry is stacked with beautiful marble, glass and even concrete tiles. I thought it would be fun to share with you just a few of my favorite tile trends for 2016!
1. The New Natural Stone
Natural Stone of all shapes and sizes. Say hello to classic beauty with a twist. Hex patterns and quatrefoil designs add an classic elegance to a Master Bathroom Suite.
2. Subway Tiles
Subway tile has received a face-lift. The standard 2"x 4" flat faced subway tile has been replaced by larger and unusual sizes and beveled edge details that add dimension and interest to an otherwise simple material.
3. Concrete Materials
I am IN. LOVE. WITH. patterned concrete tile. Concrete tile was amazing enough and then they went and added pizzazz to it! Just spectacular, whether applied to a mudroom floor, as shown above, or a kitchen backsplash. The options in patterned tile are becoming endless.
4. Mother-of-Pearl
The delicate touch of Mother-of-Pearl, paired with a curved fascia - delicious! Although not practical in every application, Mother-of-Pearl and various shell tiles act as a piece of art for the wall or dry backsplash.
5. Glass Tiles
Glass tile has not seen it's day, but it has made some modifications and adaptations. Think accent, such as this angled, iridescent amber glass liner--what a stunning compliment to the pearl harlequin border accent.
