Rooms with a View

I just cannot tell you how excited I am to share this entire project with each of you! I poured my heart and soul into this house for 3 years, so it gives me great pleasure to be able to share it with the world and it gives me an opportunity to thank all of the incredible people involved. This client is unbelievable to work with, and we have really gained the deepest appreciation for their tastes and lifestyle needs. So it just makes me smile to explore the most special rooms in the home....the rooms with a view!

The location of this coastal home, in Lewes, Delaware, is nestled next to a quaint town and a State Park on the Atlantic Coast. Taking advantage of the views from each living space was an absolute necessity. The collaboration between the client, the builder, architect, and our design team took several months to incorporate the perfect ocean views into the appropriate and needed functional spaces.

The client requested "walking into a grand Dining Room that opens directly onto the overlook porch". With 3 large sliding glass doors opening to the deck, the entertaining value of this open concept is worth every penny. This view is peeking down from the 3rd floor catwalk- just breathtaking, isn't it?

Lower Level Gameroom/Bar

The closed-in sun room was initially intended to be a screened in porch--but turned into one of the coziest spots in the house. With heated floors, a cordless table lamp, and all outdoor grade furniture and fabrics, you can come right in off the beach and nestle up to a good book or movie.

So, as you can imagine, it takes years of planning to get all of these details just right. We wanted to make sure each of the bedrooms had a special element surrounding the windows. The Guest Bedrooms do not have a view of the ocean (they overlook the first home we designed for this client--that's another story all together!), so we created a unique reading or lounge nook in each of the bay windows. I found myself relaxing at the end of the day in one of these two niches.

Even the man of this house needed a unique space to relax, look out at the ocean and admire his last catch. The Study is situated in the corner of the 3rd floor, adjacent the Master Bedroom Suite and is a true Man-cave! With huge wall mounted catch, reclaimed wood beams and a custom bar cabinet for entertaining the guys, who wouldn't want to "get some work done in the office".

I wish I could personally walk you through every space and corner of this house but since I can't do that today- let's end on a high note--the Master Bedroom Suite....

With sweeping views of the Delaware Bay meeting the Atlantic Ocean, this room called for an impressive window treatment design. The fully functioning panels enclosing the room are all remote controlled. Whether you want to fall asleep to a fire burning in complete darkness or wake up to the sun reflecting off the water - you can have it "your way" in this Master Suite. The bedroom itself exudes elegance with iridescent tile surrounding the fireplace, antique mirror and metallic finished chests, high gloss ship lap ceiling and who could leave out those magnificent quartz bedside table lamps (Thank you Times Two for these beautiful babies).

So, I hope you are enjoying the tour of this coastal home as much as I am enjoying sharing it with you! Don't miss next week's post where I will be wrapping up all of the finishing touches that made this house a home. Have a blessed weekend!
